LENTI ist ZUHAUSE

Hallo Alle,
das Lenti-Suchteam kann Euch die superfrohe Mitteilung machen, dass wir heute Abend (23.03.2005) gegen 19.00 Uhr unsere Lenti wieder hatten.
Lenti hat sich gut durchgefuttert und wacker gehalten. Das linke Hinterbeinchen scheint auf den ersten Blick nicht massiv verletzt zu sein, genaueres werden wir morgen erfahren. Zuerst jedenfalls darf sich Lenti ausschlafen was sie sicherlich auch tun wird.
Wir möchten uns wirklich aus ganzem Herzen bei allen Menschen bedanken, die uns mit Rat und Tat und Anrufen geholfen haben. Insbesondere möchten wir uns bei der Bevölkerung in Röhe und rund um Eschweiler und Stolberg und insbesondere in Mausbach bedanken. Ohne alle Ihre wunderbaren korrekten Hinweise hätten wir Lenti wohl nie mehr einfangen können.
Es war einfach traumhaft mit Euch.
Wir hatten heute
jede Menge Anruf-Hinweise auf Grund der tollen Berichterstattung in der Zeitung erhalten. Am
Nachmittag wurde Lenti noch auf einer Wiese in Mausbach gesehen. Da wir jeden,
naja die meisten Schritte von Lenti durch die Bevölkerung verfolgen konnten,
dachten wir uns, sie kommt heute Abend auf diese Wiese zurück. So begannen wir
für Bogdan das Zelt aufzubauen, sodass Bogdan (der Tierheimpfleger aus
Rumänien) vor Ort gewesen wäre, wenn Lenti zurückgekehrt wäre.
Und, stellt Euch vor, Bogdan und ein freundlicher junger Mann versuchen das Zelt
aufzubauen, eine von uns sprach noch mit den Anwohnern, dass dort ein junger
Mann campieren würde, eine lief über die Wiese und traute ihren Augen nicht,
da kam Lenti angelaufen. Bogdan Bescheid gegeben. Bogdan geht auf Lenti zu,
kniet sich hin, ruft die kleine Maus an und ihr glaubt es nicht, Lenti lief
sofort zu Bogdan hin und ließ sich auf den Arm nehmen. Unsere Freude fand
natürlich kein Ende und jeder der uns beobachtete muss gedacht haben, wir seien
"a little bit crazy".
Und unsere Bitte an alle Menschen, denen einmal der Hund abhanden kommt. Gebt nicht auf, gebt einfach nicht auf, versucht alles mögliche, auch wenn es manchmal zum Verzweifeln ist.
Wir bedanken uns aus ganzem Herzen bei allen und wir meinen damit wirklich bei allen für ihre Hilfe und Unterstützung. Ohne SIE und SIE und SIE und SIE ... hätten wir es nicht geschafft. Danke.

Dear all,
After 2,5 weeks of searching we finally caught Lenti yesterday evening.
It was a hard job. We spread papers in every mailbox in the area with our telephone numbers, it was on the local radio station, all the policemen knew and yesterday it was in the newspaper. We always wrote down all the spots she was seen, made maps and tried to find the logic of her route. Yesterday she was seen on a field in a village where she wasn’t seen before. At 19.30 hrs I spoke to a young boy who said the dog was on this field in the morning. In the afternoon she was seen by his sister in another village, but afterwards she was seen again in this field. To us, this was the most important information at that very moment. We knew she would spend the night on the field. We were putting up a tent for Bogdan. The boy helped us with putting up the tent, because he was a boy scout and wanted to help us. While we were busy with the tent Lenti came towards Maria and Bogdan. She recognized Bogdan and he could just pick her up. Maria was yelling because she was so lucky. Because it was already dark I couldn’t see what had happened and I thought Maria had found the missing stick of the tent. It was so unreal to see Lenti in Bogdan’s arms.
For Maria and me it is still hard to believe we finally caught the dog. Lenti, the dog, is now sleeping near my feet while I am working on the computer. She trusts me and everything goes better than I expected. Last night she slept in my shed (it is a heated one with dog beds) so she could have a good night sleep. I think she is still very tired because she sleeps all the time. She has to catch up her lack of sleep.
I really admire Maria. She had nothing to do with Lenti’s escape, but she searched like hell. Luckily Maria and I never gave up. A lot of people in our surroundings said we were crazy and we would never catch the dog.
We were like the NYPD and we even spent some nights in the car. Maria even spent some hours under a blanket behind the restaurant where Lenti escaped. She forgot to tell the people of the restaurant and they thought she was a poor idiot and wanted to call the police. When Maria came out they recognised her.
We spent hours in the car searching with the binoculars and I am sure some people thought we were some idiots that thought they were acting in a movie or something.
I also really admire the German people. Without their help we could never catch Lenti. They helped us with putting food outside and keep the food fresh, they helped us by calling when they saw the dog and by spreading the news to all the people they met.
These are not very good pictures, but they show how relaxed Lenti is at the moment.

I want to thank all the people for their help. Bertie and her husband helped out a lot of times and of course Bogdan who rode on the bicycle all day yesterday. Also Rita for paying Bogdan’s trip.
Maria and I go back to our normal lives now.
